20th international specialized exhibition EXPODREV

From 4 to 7 September, 2018 in Krasnoyarsk one of the leading Forestry exhibitions in Russia was held – XX International Exhibition EXPODREV. Anniversary project has consolidate over 120 participants from 16 countries all over the world and more than two thousands of Russian and foreign specialists.

Opening

The exhibition was opened by the A.i. governor of Krasnoyarsk Region, Alexander Uhss: 

“With great pleasure I’m opening the 20th anniversary exhibition EXPODREV and greet all participants. Today’s exhibition gathered representatives from 16 countries and big companies working at that industry. It’s naturally that such a full-scale event has held on the territory of our Krasnoyarsk Region. The Region has a big stock of lumber and working actively at that industry, enlarging the timber harvesting volume, realizing big investment projects and actively practicing re-forestation. We are aware that the economic opportunities of this industry we don’t use to the full extent, including in the sphere of work in the forest, have many problems that the Krasnoyarsk Region must overcome. We need to move on to the implementation of wood chemical industry here, the absence of which is a thrombus for the development of the forestry industry, provide more profound processing of cut timber, the active development of wood house building and many other opportunities that the forest industry opens up. That's why we have something to show our guests and something to learn from them. I wish all participants successful work and good impressions of their stay in Krasnoyarsk", said the A.i. governor to the participants and guests of the exhibition.

The first day of the exhibition was marked by another significant event for the Krasnoyarsk Region. After the opening ceremony, the agreement was signed on cooperation between the JSC Saint-Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange and the Krasnoyarsk Region. Alexander Uhss, A.i. governor of the region, and Aleksey Rybnikov, chief executive, chairman of the board JSC Saint-Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange come to the negotiating table.

“The participation in this project is relevant for our region in the forestry branch. We have seen the best practices of other regions. And we were able to see our first result when the starting price and the real price paid by our customers differed from 5 to 10 times. I hope that this form of product realization will become more and more widespread and over time will become the predominant one for the Krasnoyarsk Region, which will ensure more income and revenue to the Krasnoyarsk Region budget", - Alexander Uhss commented after the ceremony.

Aleksey Rybnikov made a return speech, thanking the government of the region for supporting the exchange trade project. "I hope that our cooperation is the long road for many years, and agreement is only the first step. The region is an ideal client for us in terms of development of exchange trade, because there are all traditional goods here that are the subject of exchange trade in the world. Cooperating, we will do a lot for the region and for the country", concluded Aleksey Rybnikov.

The operation of the exhibition

The exhibition was attended by 121 companies from 16 countries, including Austria, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, Italy, China, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia, USA, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, South Korea, Russia.

The exhibition took two large pavilions and the entire open exposition area of the Siberia Expocentre. A specially equipped demonstration area with large-sized special machinery worked in action: forwarders, harvesters, tractors, hydraulic manipulators, etc. The operators of the special machinery arranged a real show and showed the jewelry work of the forestry machines: they used it to play checkers by huge scoops, pour glasses, assemble construction kit and hand out souvenirs right in hands of spectators.

Everyone was able to test their professional suitability as a forestry operator on a unique diagnostic system: it measures the progression of hand-eye skills, coordination and the ability to perceive time and space, as well as other professionally important qualities.

Also on the open area there were exhibition performances of the winners of the All-Russian championship "Lesorub". The best of the best woodcutters in Siberia performed spectacular tests on speed: they changed chains on chainsaws, sawed powerful trunks and cut off branches.

On a specially equipped stand, a spectacular demonstration of fire extinguishing took place with the help of the latest Dafo fire extinguishing systems for logging equipment.

In the exhibition pavilions, the world's major manufacturers presented modern technologies, equipment and tools for timber harvesting, wood processing, wood waste processing and furniture production.

Business programme

The key event of the business programme of the exhibition was the 3rd Krasnoyarsk Timber Industrial Forum, where the most important issues of the regional and Russian timber industry were discussed and resolved. In total, over 10 events took place in the framework of the forum.

The forum was opened by the plenary session "Actual issues of re-forestation. Innovations and technologies ". The main theme of this year's event is the restoration of forests, as well as the use of innovations and technologies in this branch. The forum was attended by the Krasnoyarsk Region Minister of Forestry Dimitry Maslodudov, State Duma deputy Viktor Zubarev, chief analyst of Federal State-Funded Institution Russian Forest Protection Center Aleksey Ermolenko, head of the JSC Saint-Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange Aleksey Rybnikov.

Opening the event, Dimitri Maslodudov stressed that for the first time in many years the theme of re-forestation received serious support at the federal level. "The theme of re-forestation was made concretely and meaningfully in the decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, which outlines the main priorities for the development of our country. Special attention to the reproduction of forests is given by the regional authorities. That is why we want to discuss it with the authorities, the scientific community, experts - the achievements and problems of this industry, the legislation amendments, the prospects and opportunities for interaction between the subjects of the SFO, the implementation of new technologies at the site of the Krasnoyarsk Timber Industrial Forum, "said Dimitri Maslodudov.

During the plenary session, the participants discussed the results of the state monitoring of forest reproduction in the Siberian Federal Okrug, re-forestation and afforestation issues in the territory of Krasnoyarsk Region, and the implementation of innovative methods in this branch.

A stand-alone workshop was devoted to the timber trade. Representatives of the Saint-Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange told more about the trade on the electronic platform. For forest districts it is a convenient platform, which provides the opportunity to sell lumber under the conditions of fair competition. The exchange is an open and accessible platform providing financial guarantees. At the same time, it is an effective distribution channel.

Also in the framework of the forum held the exchange of business contacts – investors’ presentations of the current and planned priority projects in the branch of forest exploitation in the territory of region. Representatives of following companies took part in the event:

In total about 800 specialists of the industry took part in the business program.

Closure of the exhibition

The closing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Forestry of the Krasnoyarsk Region, Dimitry Maslodudov, and the General Manager of the Krasnoyarsk Fair Exhibition Company, Artem Muradyan.

"Every year our young Timber Industry Forum and already mature EXPODREV exhibition are changing for the better. They are interesting for their content and for a large number of high-quality events. Today, the Krasnoyarsk Region is on the verge of a breakthrough in technology, management structure changes and approach to forest management and the timber industry issues. One of the most significant events for the region was the signing of an agreement on cooperation between our region and JSC Saint-Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange. This is a new benchmark for openness in the field of forestry. Closing today's exhibition, we are already beginning preparations for the 21st exhibition and the 4th Krasnoyarsk Timber Industry Forum. In 2019, we plan to expand the format of the event and make several sites in the city and not only. In addition, they will communicate effectively with each other. We also plan to attract more attention from federal authorities and a broad professional business community, said Dimitri Maslodudov.

With a welcoming speech, the general manager of the Krasnoyarsk Fair Exhibition Company, Artem Muradyan, addressed the audience: "For four days, the EXPODREV exhibition was visited by about 1,500 specialists from 900 companies. In such a case, almost the entire Siberian Federal Okrug was represented. In the near future, the changes in the industry are coming, and they will affect our professional industrial exhibition. Today we position the EXPODREV exhibition as the largest one beyond the Urals and one of the largest in the country.
